"L"it Up "L"incoln
Growing up here in Virginia, I know I took for granted that I lived in a place where the history of our Nation surrounded me. We lived just minutes from DC, yet we rarely took advantage of the opportunities just on our doorstep. Now that this is where I am raising my kids, I hope to be able to share with them this historical gold mine. Even though we were in DC a couple of weeks ago with Kimberly, I convinced Jeremy to drive us into DC at sunset to take the kids to our L destination, the "L"incoln Memorial. We have driven through the city at night, but it was a real treat to be able to walk around all of the monuments and memorials in the dark when they are all lit up. We fed the ducks, and visited the Korean and Vietnam Memorials, and then walked up to see Mr. Lincoln. Did you know his hands are placed in a sign language A and L? The statue was so much more regal all aglow and it was great to be able to share some information on this important, moral president with the boys. We need to take the kids into DC more often and let them play where history was made. We really are so lucky to live here.

That is one good looking family. Love the family photo!
I love the monuments at night...so pretty! I never knew that Lincoln's hands were making an "a" and "L" in sign language...that is so cool!
