On Sunday we went up to Skyline Drive with the Turners, Wadleys, and Porters. We made a fire, cooked some dogs and s'mores, and drank hot cocoa. There were piles of leaves for the kids to jump in and throw at each other, and the weather was chilly, but not unbearable. We caught the tail end of fall up in the mountains, most of the trees had lost their leaves, but there were still some really pretty yellow trees left. We stayed up there until sunset, which was just breathtaking as the last rays lit up the mountains, truly God's country. Cameron kept saying as we drove home that he wanted to live up there and I can't say I didn't have the same thoughts. As we near Thanksgiving, I am thankful to live so close to natures beauty and splendor and be able to share it with my children.

Those are great pictures!!! Glad that we got to see the real thing- it was a really fun afternoon!
We had a great time. We really need to head up that way more often.
Awesome trip! Have you made it to the Woodstock Tower before? You'd love the view from there of the entire Shenandoah Valley on a clear day. Your kids will love climbing the tower and the trail up to it too, if you haven't been there.
Awesome pix Erika! I'm so sad we had to miss out.
