Fall Fotography

It's that time of year again! Holiday picture time! This year I'll be flying solo- boo Robyn- but I would be delighted to be able to photograph your family for your Christmas cards. Keep in mind, I'm a total amateur, but I'll do my best to make you happy. It's only $30 for the session and a CD of all of your photos that you can use to download and print off as many prints as you want! Solid

I'm not sure why they call them solids, because in reality it's really mush, far from anything that resembles a solid. Mason got his first taste of this baby delicacy today as he tried some pasty rice cereal, yum. We waited to start him on real food (the term real is debatable) until he was almost 6 months for a couple of reasons, but mostly because he didn't need it and it was just one more thing to have to do in the day. Also, selfishly, I wanted to keep him little for as long as possible, and for some reason once they start food they seem more grown up to me. Well, he actually loved the stuff and although he's got to work on his tongue reflex a bit, he gobbled down the small amount I made him and wanted more! He even wanted to feed himself becasue I wasn't giving it to him fast enough. Perhaps he won't be my skinny guy anymore!

My little Bat

Cameron has been playing Fall Ball this season and today he had his first game. He is on the Bats team and this time around it is coach pitch. He has been doing better than I expected, and he really has so much fun, once he gets to the field. Getting him there has been a bit of a trial this season because the boys are supposed to wear cups. We bought him one that comes with the underwear that you just slip it in, thinking it would be more comfortable (man, I don't know anything about this stuff). Well, he hates the underwear and you can forget about the cup. We've just been making him wear the underwear by itself, warming him up to the idea of having to stick something in them. It's a battle every time and he is constantly telling me he doesn't like baseball and he doesn't want to go. Today after the game, I asked him if he had a good time. The answer was a resounding "YES! but I just don't like the underwear..."

We were so excited that he is on the Bats team because they have purple shirts- Cam's favorite color! And it is a rather spooky mascot with Halloween coming up and all. Isn't he a cute little Bat?

Small Victories

Most of you know that the whole potty training thing has not been very successful with Gavin. We've tried a couple of times and are currently in the midst of trying again. I even bought him a potty watch that you set for a certain amount of time and it plays a little song when it's time to go potty. The first couple of days it worked well, but then he just stopped telling me when it went off... Still, he has only had one pee accident all week, mostly because I have been pretty on top of it myself, making him go every hour or so. Number two has been the big problem. Ever since we tried the first time in June, we have had the GRAND prize of a coveted lawnmower and weed wacker combo sitting in my closet for him to look at and only acquire once he pooed in the toilet. He has cried and begged for it, but no poop. Well all week my dear son had been pooping in his underwear and having had enough of that, I have been letting him go around bare-bummed the past couple of days when we are home, thinking he surely would not want to poop with nothing on his behind. I even moved the little training potty down to the basement, which has been his pooping spot of choice. Then yesterday he was playing downstairs and yells that he has to go potty! GREAT, I think and tell him to run upstairs. He runs up and I hoist him onto the toilet. Then he tells me he has already pooped downstairs. No! I go and survey the damage, all the while telling him he had better produce or I am throwing him into a cold shower, (it would have been the fifth one this week). For the first time he actually tried and did go a small amount. I told him that the next time he has to go he can finally get his lawnmower as long as it all ends up in the toilet where it belongs. Well today he did it! I was so proud I almost took a picture, but I will spare him future humiliation and I'm sure no one out there really wants to see anyway, right? We celebrated his small victory with giving him his new toy and hopefully, hopefully we have turned a corner.

Feeling kinda crafty

This week I've had the crafting itch! Never mind that I'm about 6 months behind in my scrapbooking, there are projects I've been wanting to do and this week I procrastinated everything else in my life and got them done.

Pumpkin Shirts- We get the magazine Family Fun and on the cover were these adorable tie-dyed t-shirts for Halloween. So we rubber banded and colored with fabric markers until our hearts were content. Voila- you see the finished product.

Victorian Silhouettes- I need to try these again because they aren't perfect, but hey, it was my first try. It was fun to take everyone's picture and then cut out their silhouette on black paper and frame and hang them. Jeremy commented that it was amazing how you can tell the boys apart just from their outline. I think they will be neat to have in the years to come to see how much these kids change.

Apron- I have wanted a cute apron ever since I got married. My mom has had this amazing green and white checkered one ever since I can remember and for some reason I just love it. Maybe it's the memories that are attached to it- mom in the kitchen making scrumptious baked goods and meals, always wearing that apron. Well, I decided I would attempt to make a cute one myself. I don't sew. I can make things like curtains and pillows, but I've never ventured so far as to try a pattern, and I wasn't about to try that, so this is just my vision of what an apron ought to be. It turned out pretty decent, although the top is a bit too loose, but I might be able to fix that. But I just love the fabric and the girliness of it, don't you?

Next on my list? Well there is all of that scrapbooking just waiting for me...
